If you normally move your caravan or motorhome away
for winter storage, please be particularly cautious over the weeks following the move.
A prospective burglar might assume you have gone away on holiday.
WARNING FOR CARAVAN & MOTORHOME OWNERS
Please be aware that there have been burglaries recently
in the local area. The offender(s) are targeting the owners of caravans and motorhomes who keep them on driveways and
at the front of their homes. The offender(s) are waiting for the occupants to go away in their caravan or motorhome and then
breaking into their home.
Here are a few suggestions on how you can protect your home:-
Make your home look like someone is living
in it. Don't close your curtains in the daytime this shows the house is empty. Use automatic timer switches to turn
your lights on when it goes dark.
Cancel any milk or newspaper deliveries.
Avoid discussing holiday plans where strangers may hear details
of your absence from home.
Cut the lawn before you go and trim back any plants that burglars could hide behind.
Uncollected mail is a sign that
you are away. The Royal Mail's 'Keepsafe' service will keep your mail for up to two months while you are away.
Consider leaving important documents
and valuable items with other family members, a bank or lock them in a safe.
Do not put your home address on your luggage
when you are travelling to your holiday destination.
If you normal leave valuable pedal cycles or similar items in your shed, consider
putting them in the house.
Finally, make sure that you've locked all outside doors and windows and, if you have a burglar alarm, make
sure it is set.
We haven't had any burglaries in Timberland but a number have occurred
in Metheringham Ruskington Leasingham over the last few weeks.

Yet Another Telephone SCAM.
Beware of anyone contacting you by phone regarding banks mis-selling products, Inland Revenue
refunds, computer malfunctioning etc and asking for a payment up front – it is more than likely to be a SCAM.
If
you believe that you have been mis-sold payment protection on a loan or mortgage then contact your bank and register
a claim with them. It should only cost about £10 to £20 not in excess of £200!
